What we believe
-
PATH Apostolic Church is an Apostolic Pentecostal Church. We believe that the church is not a building or a place, but rather an assembly of believers walking in Christ’s love, truth, and power. We are the living Body and Bride of Jesus Christ walking on His path, not seeking our own. A path, by definition, cannot be a destination. But it can be the beginning of the greatest journey you’ll ever take!
The Love and Power of God are endless and available to all. Yet the Truth of His words are forever settled in Heaven (Psalm 119:89). They do not change. These days, the word “truth” doesn’t mean much anymore. Now, people are encouraged to have “their own truth” and yet accept everyone else’s “truth” too. Even if that “truth” defies reality, science, or biblical doctrine. Never has the Bible’s instruction to “buy the truth and sell it not” been more important than it is today. Never has the question “how shall two walk together if they do not agree” meant more (Amos 3:3).
While none of us can honestly say, “I know all truth” it is possible for the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth (John 16:13). As we walk together on Christ’s path, let’s read God’s forever settled words below as His Spirit guides us step-by-step!
-
• There is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4).
• He has revealed Himself to humanity as the Father (Creator), the Son (Savior), and the Holy Ghost (indwelling Spirit).
• The fullness of His Godhead dwells in Christ Jesus bodily (Colossians 2:9).
• Jesus is the only image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:13-15).
-
• FAITH - Faith in Jesus Christ as Savior is essential for salvation. By trusting in His grace, we have access to forgiveness, redemption, a new life on Earth and eternal life in Heaven. (John 3:16; Hebrews 11:6; Ephesians 2:5-8)
• REPENTANCE - Through Repentance, we approach the cross of Christ to “crucify” our old life looking forward to a new life (Romans 6:6). An abiding faith in Jesus necessitates true repentance from sin (Acts 20:21). Repentance is a faithful response to the preached Gospel of Christ and affords us grace unto salvation (Acts 2:37-38). Jesus and the Apostles taught that repentance was essential for salvation (Luke 13:3-5; II Peter 3:9).
• WATER BAPTISM - Water Baptism by immersion in the Name of Jesus washes away our sins (Acts 2:38, Acts 4:12, Acts 8:16, Acts 19:5). Just as repentance connects us to His cross, baptism connects us to His burial (Romans 6:3-6; Colossians 2:11-14). Jesus and the Apostles taught baptism as essential for salvation (Mark 16:16; I Peter 3:20-21).
• SPIRIT BAPTISM - The Infilling of the Holy Spirit is given with the initial sign of speaking in tongues (Acts 2:4, Acts 10:45-46; Acts 19:1-6). As repentance and baptism identify with Christ’s death and burial, so the Holy Spirit connects us to life through His resurrection. New birth and new life are only possible through His Spirit (John 3:3-7). Jesus and the Apostles taught that Holy Spirit infilling is essential for salvation (John 7:38-39; Romans 8:9; Titus 3:4-6).
• SALVATION - Salvation is a gift of God afforded us by faith in God’s gracious plan and not by the works of men (Ephesians 2:8). While Christians may confess and repent of their sins, God’s grace does the work of forgiveness (Ephesians 1:7). While water is used in baptism, Christ’s blood and His name do the work of remitting sins (Hebrews 9:22; Acts 2:38). And while people may receive the Holy Spirit, God alone does the work of filling them (Luke 11:13).
-
• CHANGED BY THE SPIRIT - God’s grace is like a kind escort always giving favor to those who don’t deserve it. But it always escorts away from sin and toward His righteousness (Romans 6:1-4). Old things in our lives pass away and all things become new in Christ (II Corinthians 5:17). Perfection cannot be attained in this life, but we do follow grace in peace and holiness by the power of the Holy Ghost (Hebrews 12:14). When we sin as Christians, repentance again affords us grace and forgiveness through Christ’s blood and His faithfulness (I John 1:6-10).
• EMPOWERED BY THE SPIRIT - The Fruit and Gifts of the Holy Spirit function decently and in order to build up of the Body of Christ. God still ministers to His people through tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy, words of knowledge and wisdom, discerning of spirits, faith, working of miracles, healing, helps and government (Mark 16:15-18; Acts 5:16; 2 Corinthians 12:1-11).
• ETERNAL LIFE - Heaven is a literal and tangible place. It's a place of eternal life, joy, and communion with Jesus Christ (Revelation 21:1-7). Sadly, Hell is also a real place of eternal torment and alienation from God (Luke 16:23-24). While He is merciful in this Age of Grace, Christ is just, and He alone will judge all mankind (II Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11-13), determining our eternal destinations.

• It is our great commission to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ personally, regionally, nationally and globally (Mark 16:15-18). The Gospel is the good news of how His death, burial and resurrection paved the way for salvation and an overcoming life (I Corinthians 15:1-4).
• Jesus Christ is coming again to catch away His bride, the church (John 14:2-3; I Thessalonians 4:16-17) and we are looking for His glorious appearance (Titus 2:13; II Peter 3:1-7). Until then, we are called to labor for a harvest of souls (John 4:35-36) and to expand His kingdom on Earth (Acts 1:6-8).
